
Customer Self-Service Enrollment
To sign up for recurring credit card
payments, customers must complete the following steps:
- Customer visits safeco.com
- Clicks the ‘My Account’ tab to sign in or register their account
- Clicks the ‘View/update
billing information’ link to view their Account Summary
- Selects ‘Options’ from the menu bar
- Selects ‘Recurring Credit Card’ under the Payment Method
- Completes applicable fields
New Requirement: Some critical correspondence regarding the recurring debit/credit schedule is sent to the customer only via e-mail, so the customer must enter and maintain a valid e-mail address on the Options screen.
Safeco policyholders have asked for it, and now it’s here.
Effective April 2, Safeco personal lines customers can set up recurring debit or credit card payments for their existing accounts. After completing a one-time set-up through safeco.com, monthly payments are billed to their card automatically, a simple and convenient way to keep billing on track.
Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express® and Discover® credit cards are all accepted, as are most Visa and MasterCard logo debit cards.
For customers and agents, the benefits of a recurring debit/credit card plan are many:
- No need to worry about late payments, checks and stamps
- It’s a great way to increase points, miles or other rewards offered through credit or debit cards
- Multiple options give customers additional flexibility to fit their needs
- Online self-service options put the customer in control, freeing up your staff to focus on growth, rather than billing.
- Retention improves, as payments are “out-of-sight, out-of-mind” and customers are less likely to shop for insurance
Note: We are diligently working to bring Safeco agents the capability to sign up new and existing business for recurring credit card payments. A future article will announce when those options are made available. Until this capability is available, you will notice the following for your customers who have signed up for recurring credit card payments:
- Agents
will have read-only access to the Account Options page
- Customers can self-service changes to their billing options on Safeco.com
There is a fee associated with recurring debit/credit card payment plans. Please consult your state’s fee schedule on Safeco Now. Click your state, then click the Other Resources drop-down menu and then click Billing.
